After a well-intended busride into downtown for First Night we got ourselves home via the “scenic route” when I put us on the wrong bus coming back home. Definitely makes for a good story for Nick to tell year after year. It’s so cold out that I started to not feel my ears only to have them feel like they were on fire once I got inside.
Nearly one hour into the year and so far it’s looking pretty good. Our little family did some bonding while roaming around downtown checking out the entertainment. We caught a bit of the rail jam, a magician, a bag of hot mini doughnuts, some improv and tied it up with an Elvis impersonator. Not so shabby.
I must say, I sense change a brewin’ unlike I have for a long while. It’s a subtle pull built on unplanned yet strategic choices. Things are falling in place. I’m happy in my work, Nick’s happy in his. We have more structure than ever and I can’t believe how much that allows me to make time for creativity. Woohoo!
Things I’m most excited about for the coming year (in no particular order):
-
implementing more reduce, reuse, recycle practices
-
making smart new stuff from used stuff
-
sewing projects
-
taking classes again
-
family vacation
-
nurturing my creativity
-
focusing on fitness
-
learning new recipes and sharing what I’ve learned
-
altering and honing our home budget/routine
-
saving for our future
-
nurturing friendships
I’d like to use this blog as a place to keep track of all the clever ideas, thoughts, resources, stories and inspirations I come across in life. I’m excited about the opportunity to use this as a place to put saved website and blogs in some sense of order or context. I’m so sick of bookmarking pages only to forget how I filed them. I figure by checking in I’ll give myself a place to empty my head of all the brainstorms and ideas that are inspired and triggered by all that I’ve read and seen and picked up around me.
