3R= reduce, reuse, recyle

It’s important to me to figure out a way to reuse things so that they are hip and functional; in fact, it’s almost a curse because sometimes I can’t help but dwell on a particular item that I know must have a second life in it. The thing is the real curse is in creating something functional that isn’t ugly and kitschy or downright WT.

My grandmother was extremely thrifty and clever. She came from an era where it was a necessity.  She was always brimming with rich stories and I came to respect her resourcefulness and grew to desire it for myself. Fortunately, I don’t remember my grandmother for her tackiness (she wasn’t) but instead for her gift of planning for the future and purchasing wisely.

I consider myself pretty creative and savvy and I have a lot of fun pondering new ways to approach common things. I find myself constantly wondering about things like:

  • how to eat healthy, (mainly) organic & authentic meals within a budget and time constraints
  • how to reduce & recycle with ease (seriously)
  • how to inspire others without pressuring or sounding preachy (much harder)
  • how to reuse and recreate with style and function
  • how to get involved in the community & nurture new relationships
